The Generation chair by Knoll is the brainchild of Formway Design, and is the result of lengthy research into the way people sit at their desk during the working day. They move. They stretch. They lean. They interact. They communicate. They multi-task. The immobile work chair and desk are things of the past. Office history. The productive modern office must allow its workers to have freedom of movement and expression, whilst providing comfortable, healthy, optimum support for as many postures as possible.
Using this knowledge, Formway and Knoll have created a unique chair
that supports, flexes and follows every movement. This is achieved
by the use of a high-performing elastomer, more commonly utilised
for car parts and ski boot straps. Hard-wearing and flexible, it
has never before been used in office seating.
